Truth behind the Reproduction in Peacock

There is a number of mythological stories behind the reproduction in peacock. Peacock is the National Bird of India. Peacock was declared the National Bird of India in 1963 . The peacock was selected to be declared the national bird because it has a good religious involvement in Indian culture and traditions. Besides this it is well distributed in India and everybody knows it well. So, it can be justified as the National bird of India. Peacock carries lots of mythological facts behind itself. According to Mahabharata Bheeshma Pitamah abducted Amba and refused to marry her. Amba took AGNI SAMADHI , entered the fire and reborn as Shikhandi who took revenge from Bhishma in the war of Kurukshetra . The word ' Shikhandi '  means Peacock. On the other hands we can find a mythological story in Ramayana too.
